The brief
Where it started
Eastside Radio spent a decade as a pirate station and finally got its licence. The fear inside the station was simple: a proper brand would make it sound like everyone else.
It also needed to earn money for the first time, from sponsors who needed to take it seriously, without alienating the listeners who had kept it alive.
The idea
Go legal. Keep the static.

The work
What we did
01
Refresh
We kept the rough edges and tidied what sat underneath them, from the logo lockups to the show naming.
02
Typeface
A custom bitmap typeface for on-air graphics, drawn from the station’s old transmitter display.
03
Platform
A web player built for late-night listening on phones, with archives, schedules and a sponsor format that doesn’t feel like an ad.

In their words
Going legal could have finished us. Instead our listeners think we got louder.
